Founder & Managing Partner
Laurens Kasteleijn studied corporate law at the University of Amsterdam. In 2008 he relocated to Hong Kong to work for a renewable energy company. Inspired by the need to enrich his understanding of the Chinese language and culture, he took up studies at Tsinghua University in Beijing.
Captivated with the “Northern Capital” he decided to remain there and worked with a local investment firm. After two years in Beijing, Laurens was recruited to set up a local office for a Dutch management consultancy company in Shanghai.
In pursuit of his passion for art, he started working at Studio Rouge Gallery of Contemporary Art, and soon was appointed General Manager of the two Shanghai-based galleries. In 2013 Laurens moved back to Hong Kong to work as the gallery director of new media art collective, island6 HK.
Integrating his love of art, his legal training and his knowledge of international business, he then founded his own legal consultancy firm - Art Law Services.
Since then, Laurens has lectured on ‘Legal Issues in the Art World’ at the Sotheby’s Institute of Art in Hong Kong & London and is an active speaker on this subject.
